"This is the first time that our region has come together to shine a light collectively on their old vine resources. The Hunter Valley is the birthplace of the Australian wine industry and we are thrilled to be able to show you the wines from these old vines, alongside our Hunter friends. This is an event not to be missed." - Chris Tyrrell
Hunter Valley Heritage Vines Tasting & Dinner
27 October 2026
Lana, Hinchcliff House, Sydney
Chris Tyrrell warmly invites you to join him and some of the Hunter Valley's most iconic producers to celebrate our region's treasured old-vine sites, and the wines they produce.
As part of NSW Wine Month, seventeen of the Hunter Valley’s leading producers will gather at Lana in Sydney for an extraordinary tasting and dinner.
Across the Hunter Valley, 56 vineyards are recognised as Heritage Vineyards, each more than 50 years old and planted on original rootstocks. Some, including our Old Patch Vineyard planted in 1867, date back more than a century, with 14 vineyards now over 100 years old. These living pieces of Australian wine history offer a rare expression of site, season, and generations of knowledge passed from one custodian to the next.
For the first time in Australia, these old-vine Hunter Valley wines united by the age and heritage of their vineyards will be presented side by side. Guests will taste these distinctive wines and hear directly from the winemakers and custodians who continue to care for these historic plantings, discovering the stories of the land, the families, and the vintages that define them.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special gathering of Hunter Valley heritage.
