Selected Estate Vineyards: Baulkham planted 1962, Short Flat planted 1968 and Weinkeller planted 1970

We selected the Baulkham, Short Flat and Weinkeller vineyards from the outstanding 2018 vintage as these vineyards are inherently different from most of our other Shiraz sites that usually produce a finer Hunter Valley Shiraz style. This 2018 Estate Grown Shiraz is bigger than our usual “house style”, and is a wine with more tannin and a fuller fruit profile, offering a medium-bodied, modern Australian Shiraz, driven by freshness, fruit and tannin. Oak treatment of 14 months in French puncheons (500 litre) smoothed out the edges. Wonderfully fresh on the palate and although it will take bottle aging it is perfect drinking as a young wine.

Deep red/purple colour, with a dried herb and dry spice bouquet, the palate zesty and crisp in acidity. Hints of liqueur cherries. Mild tannin grip, fresh acidity, dark fruits, medium-long finish

Heaps of boysenberry, violet, some biscuit spice, slight tarry earthy lilt. Medium-bodied, juicy berry fruit pie, liquorice, pitch-perfect acidity, slight grain to the sure-footed tannin, and a nice long finish. Should age nicely. So classic, and shows the wonderful vintage to fine effect.
