  • Will Lyons on Mon, February 9th 2015

Though quite reserved on the nose, with just a trace of lemon and lime, when you swallow this wine you experience its full glory. Fresh and racy, it simply radiates vitality and has a thrilling, clean finish. A great match with shellfish.

  • James Haliday (2015 Wine Companion) on

94 Points - An early-drinking style, its success measured by its gold meadal from the Hunter Valley Wine Show ‘13, and no less by its fleshy, full serve of citrus and lemongrass flaviours persisting through to the finish and aftertaste.

  • Chris Shanahan on Mon, March 31st 2014

4 Stars - This wine is from Tyrrell’s HVD vineyard, which, says Bruce Tyrrell, “always produces wines that are floral, softer and more approachable than wines from our other vineyards”. The 2013 offers the variety’s distinctive lemongrass-like aroma and crisp, fresh, lemony flavours. It’s light-bodied at 11 per cent alcohol and a very small amount of residual grape sugar (5.4 grams a litre) helps round out the mid palate.

  • Illawarra Mercury on Mon, December 9th 2013

From its magnificent Vat 1 down to its entry label offerings, there can be no doubt that this iconic Hunter winery is Australia’s finest semillon producer. A drink-now semillon from the HVD vineyard, stylish and exuding vitality with its vibrant acidity, floral notes and bright lemon-and-lime fruit.

  • John Lewis on Mon, September 16th 2013

5 Glasses - This won a gold medal in the 2013 class of last year’s Hunter Valley Wine Show, and is of a riper and smoother, more advanced style. It is green-tinted light gold and has honeysuckle scents. Soft citrus flavour features on the front of the palate and spice and lemon curd and toast characters chime in on the mid palate. Flinty acid refreshes at the finish.
