The 4 Acres Vineyard was planted in 1879 and is the oldest vineyard on the Tyrrell’s property. It is planted in heavy, red volcanic clay soils and is always pruned and picked carefully by hand. This is a classic 4 Acres release. The wine is a bright purple with an exotic nose of red berries, confectionery, stalk and some spice. The palate is seamless and shows that a lighter style wine can still be very complex, with great fruit power. It has amazing fruit length, which is complemented by a fresh acid structure and soft subtle tannins.
