The deep rich colour of this wine indicates its intensity. The nose is full of ripe plum and dark cherries with a hint of white pepper and sweet vanillin. The flavours carry onto the palate which is full of big soft fruit, but balanced by an elegant oak structure and natural acid, resulting in a rich wine with a complex and fresh structure.

Huon Hooke, The Real Review
92 Points - Rich and fleshy. The 20th vintage of this wine has a deep, youthful red/purple colour and a rich, chocolate, spice, sweet plum and vanilla bouquet, which returns with good power and impact on the finish. The wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy in its texture with supple tannins and easy drinkability, although it will surely age well. (Screwcap) Alcohol: 14.9%. Food: Beef and mushroom casserole. Ageing: drink now to 13 years.
John Fordham, Sunday Telegraph
Hugely impressive 20th anniversary release from the Hunter Valley-headquartered winery's prime holding at Heathcote and an ideal wine to toast the family company's grand 160 years in the business. Its flavours are deep, rich, elegant and amazingly soft.
John Lewis, Newcastle Herald
4.5 Stars. RICH AND RIPE RUFUS. With 14.9% alcohol, the Rufus Stone 2016 Heathcote Shiraz is bright garnet and has berry pastille aromas and rich, ripe plum front-palate flavour. Maraschino cherry, dark chocolate, licorice and toasty oak show on the middle palate and minty tannins at the finish.
