Chris Tyrrell
Assistant Winemaker
Growing up on the vineyard, Chris has been involved with wine for as long as he can remember. He began winemaking at the age of 17 under the guidance of his grandfather, Australian winemaking icon Murray Tyrrell who guided many of his fellow winemakers.
Chris’ first vintage was in 2001 whilst he was studying Wine Science at Charles Sturt University. Chris then traveled extensively overseas where he worked in some of the world’s greatest wine regions including Burgundy, the Rhone, Bordeaux and Spain. Chris is now a director of Tyrrell’s Wines and holds an assistant winemaker position.
Chris Tyrrell is part of the fifth generation of the Tyrrell winemaking family dynasty alongside his sister Jane and brother John. Chris will continue to ensure that the family winemaking legend continues for one of the world’s great wine families.
