Chris Tyrrell
Assistant Winemaker
Chris Tyrrell is a fifth generation of the Tyrrell winemaking family dynasty alongside his sister Jane and brother John.
Growing up on the vineyard, Chris has been involved with wine for as long as he can remember. You could say Chris has wine in his blood. He began winemaking at the age of 17 under the guidance of his grandfather, Australian winemaking icon Murray Tyrrell who guided many of his fellow winemakers.
Chris’ first vintage was in 2001 whilst he was studying Wine Science at Charles Sturt University. Chris then travelled extensively overseas where he worked in some of the world’s greatest wine regions including Burgundy, the Rhone, Bordeaux and Spain.
Now 25, Chris is a director of Tyrrell’s Wines and the Assistant Winemaker alongside Chief Winemaker Andrew Spinaze and Red Winemaker Mark Richardson.
Chris will continue to ensure that the family winemaking legend continues for one of the world’s great wine families.
