Australian Owned for 150 Years
This wine represents the best qualities of these two noble grape varieties - strong varietal aromas and flavours of ripe blackcurrants from the cabernet sauvignon, filled out with soft fleshy malbec and then complemented by finely structured French oak tannins. The wine shows great colour levels and firm natural acidity, yet is richer and softer than some previous vintages.

Illawarra Mercury - Kerry Skinner 31st March 2010
This blend of cabernet and malbec makes a welcome return to the annual Rufus Stone release for the first time in four years. Released in tandem with a Heathcote and a McLaren Vale shiraz, it's robust, yet poised with layers of black and red berry fruit, nicely balanced oak and fine, supple tannins. Drink with lamb casserole.

Winewise - March 2010
Commendably fresh for a difficult vintage. The palate is crammed with dark berry flavour. Ready now.

Daily Telegraph - 20th March 2010
A mix of cabernet sauvignon and the rare malbec grape is seldom in Tyrrell's Rufus Stone line-up. But this McLaren Vale combination is a cracker, with its ripe berry bouquet and sweet black fruit flavour. Quality oak contributes firming tannins. Good with a casserole.
