In the beginning...
The Tyrrell family association with the grape and vine began with Edward Tyrrell in 1858. Since then Tyrrell's Wines has grown over a century and a half to become one of Australia's most prestigious and highly awarded winemakers.
It was in 1962 that Murray Tyrrell (Edward's grandson) began labelling his best wines under the Winemakers Selection label. These wines were numbered after the vat within which they matured. They were only made available to a select few customers who visited the Tyrrell's Hunter Valley winery.
The most famous of these wines: Vat 47 Chardonnay, Vat 1 Semillon, Vat 9 Shiraz, Vat 6 Pinot Noir and Vat 8 Shiraz are now available through retailers however, only in very limited quantities and after bottle aging.
This has allowed Murray Tyrrell's tradition of offering exclusive wines to a select customer base to continue today through Tyrrell's Private Bin club. These top wines are offered first to Private Bin members as pre-release, limited release and re-release wines.
When you join Tyrrell's Private Bin club, you will gain access to special member only offers including first access to pre-release, limited release and re-release wines. Additionally, as a member you will also receive:
